Resident Evil fans have a lot to be excited about at present; with current title Resident Evil Mercenaries (3DS) keeping them busy and upcoming titles Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS) and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (X360/PS3) on the horizon.
Despite the many entries into the franchise at present, it seems Capcom may have one more surprise in store for it’s survival horror devotees in the form of a Resident Evil 6 announcement.
According to a Comic-Con attendee last week in San Diego, the “unofficial” unveiling was made at a Capcom presentation.
“Today I was invited to the Capcom closed door press conference at San Diego Comic-con and they showed us some presentations about details on upcoming Capcom games and other stuff like about their marketing and other but the most interesting thing is that they confirmed and showed us Resident Evil 6 logo. They didn’t give out any details about [t]he game but said more updates about it will be given this TGS September 15 [2011]. We were not allowed to record video or even take photos during the conference but I managed to take a photo without anyone noticing.” akiraodasan Hell Descent Forums.
Masachika Kawata (Capcom) has stated in the past that Resident Evil 6 is likely to be a reboot for the franchise, and will probably be back to the roots of Survival Horror as opposed to the more action-oriented Resident Evil 5. Despite this news, dont expect Resident Evil 6 to be on shelves any time soon, and if an official announcement is made in September at TGS, we may not even get a release date. But don’t fret too much, HD versions of arguably the 2 best entries into the franchise, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 will be made available to download on XBLA and PSN this September.
